Our Ministry
We are a family of Christians of about 150
members, ranging in age from a few months old to over eight
decades. We are a group with diverse backgrounds. Of the
60 or so that you will find in church on a given Sunday, some are
attending grade school, some are high school graduates and some are
PhDs. While some of us don't have much money and some are well off,
all of us are rich in friends, especially in time of
need.
If you attend a service you will be warmly welcomed and you may well meet
someone a lot like yourself. You will not feel alone, but you
may feel challenged to make your own decisions based on the
readings presented.
Everybody is welcome but no one is told what to think.
Our ministry is not just the actions of the Bishop or our Priest or
Deacon. Every church member has a ministry. It is what we
do to share the love of Christ, the word of God, with
one another and the world.
Things we do within our family< Click for more detail
When we Worship together, we are Greeters and Acolytes and Lectors
and Chalice Bearers. We sing and make music, and take care of our small
children in the Nursery. After the service we have Coffee Hour and our
Altar Guild takes care of the things used at the altar and prepares for the
next service.
We visit the members of our family who are sick or can't come to church to say
hello or to bring them Communion. We have Sunday School for young people
and adult discussion. Every month we have a Sunday Pot Luck at church
and in the summer we have a Picnic. During Lent we have a study group
as a part of our preparation for Easter
We make decisions by electing the Vestry. They and
the committees they appoint - Building, Education, Fellowship, Finance/ Budget,
Food Pantry, Outreach, Planning, Stewardship and Visioning -
guide and act for the
church between our Annual Parish meetings.

Things we do outside our family<Click for more detail
We have taken responsibility for the cleanup of a
2 mile length of M-57. On a continuing basis we donate food and other
needed supplies to the food pantry run by our sister parish St. Paul's Lutheran.
We make donations to the Greenville Women's
Shelter. Our
Parish Hall is used by community organizations
such as T.O.P.S., A.A. and the Flat River Community
Players.
At Thanksgiving we donate and assemble food baskets with turkey and trimmings
and deliver them to folks who need them. At Christmas we
support the United Memorial Hospital Tree of Lights
and God's Kitchen in Grand Rapids. In the summer,
we offer a Vacation Bible School, usually in conjunction
with the Congregational Church across Cass street from us.
Our Outreach committee directs budgeted funds to outside organizations we feel are
doing good works. This year we will send funds to
Habitat For Humanity, A.L.S. of West Michigan, Episcopal
Relief and Development, and of course to our own diocese.
